Oaklynn Partnership

Glenavon School is proud to be in partnership with Oaklynn School. We are the home base for two classes of students from Oaklynn School.   These two satellite classes are known as the Te Ara Hou unit and are located near the Glenavon Preschool at the back of our site. These classes provide supported learning for students who have specialised learning needs and who have met the requirement for ORS funding.

Using the New Zealand Curriculum and an Oaklynn developed curriculum, teaching is responsive to individual needs and learning styles.

The “satellite class” system enables students to have access to regular school life while being taught and supported by specialised teachers and therapists. Students are based in Te Arahou and access integration opportunities and school facilities whenever possible.

Oaklynn School has 11 other satellite classes at local primary and intermediate schools, three here at Green Bay High School and a Tertiary facility, Oaktec, for students aged 18-21 situated in New Lynn.
