Northern Mystics star to visit Glenavon School!!!

Northern Mystics goal shooter Catherine Latu will be visiting Glenavon School on Monday July 19 to work with our middle school netball teams from 10-11am.

This is an AWESOME opportunity for our teams and we are very thankful to the Northern Mystics for getting her here and also to Tim Lythe from NZ Netball who has helped organise this visit.

Auckland Rugby Championships.

Our Yr 7/8 Boys attended the Auckland Rugby Championships day at Avondale racecourse.

Our first game was against Pakuranga, who beat us 17-0.Lona Halaholo starred at No.8 and was well supported by Mesiana Muliagatele.

Our second game was aginst Manurewa Intermediate and the boys really fired up and won 12-5 - Neil Toloa was outstanding and Pyong Her continued his impressive form this season.

Hi everyone - another great week is ahead of us at Glenavon.

Tomorrow our Boys Yr 7/8 open weight rugby team head off to the Auckland Champs at Avondale racecourse and will playing Manurewa, Pakuranga and Sacred Heart.

Don't forget the Year 7/8 classes are off to MOTAT next Friday, July 2 (last day of term)  to participate in the Fonterra Science Roadshow - Wow, that is going to be a fantastic day!!

Zamira's Garden Report

This year has been a real challenge for school gardeners.  The dry season didn't help much.  At the end of term 1, plants that had gone to seed were harvested. The seeds were grown in trays, and this week we planted them out in our garden.  We won't know what the plants are until they are a little bigger.  We would like to thank the Room 1 boys for digging over the garden last week ready for our plants.

Monica's Hockey Report

On Thursday the 10th of June, our the Middle school Hockey Team went to Blockhouse Bay Primary for a game.  We won 3-2.  It was windy and cold, but we had a great game.  Shu Xin was palyer of the match.  Reporter: Monica.

From the 8th of June Room 1 from Glenavon school opened up a new tuckshop. We decided to call it "Slice of Heaven" We will be running it on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There are many varitites of foods at low prices so come and enjoy our tasty snacks.

Garden Planting

Room 5 students planted out our autumn plants today with the assistance  of junior school children.  Mrs Taylor, our school Librarian, has kindly donated some lettuce plants for our raised vegetable garden.  Thank you Mrs Taylor.

Room 5's Worm Farming Study

In term two, Room 5 are embarking on an exciting project. Each child will design, build and maintain a prototype worm farm. There are a lot of great learning opportunities in this study. One of our aims is to develop a school worm farm to enrich our school gardens and reduce food waste. Another aim is to design and market products available for sale from our surpluses.  Here are some interesting WEB sites you might like to visit:
