Auckland Rugby Championships.

Our Yr 7/8 Boys attended the Auckland Rugby Championships day at Avondale racecourse.

Our first game was against Pakuranga, who beat us 17-0.Lona Halaholo starred at No.8 and was well supported by Mesiana Muliagatele.

Our second game was aginst Manurewa Intermediate and the boys really fired up and won 12-5 - Neil Toloa was outstanding and Pyong Her continued his impressive form this season.

Our final grading game was against a very determined Sacred Heart team, and once again we came out on top 12-0. Konrad Latu was fantastic and he was backed up well by Sam Halaholo and Derek Maota.

In the quarter finals we came up against Royal Oak - who beat us 17-0. Everyone tried hard but it just wasn't our game and Royal Oak deserved the win.

We then moved onto the playoffs and beat Sacred Heart 34-7 - Solomon Vasuvalagi was the man of the match with some crunching defence and Neil Toloa scored 2 amazing solo tries.

Our final game was against Manurewa Intermediate (playoff for 5th) and again we were on fire - winning 21-5 - John Viane was the man of the match - backed up well by  Konrad, France, Ula and Sam.

All in all a very good day - everyone tried their best and Glenavon really 'stood up' and were counted - Well done boys -a truly memorable experience for all concerned.

All the best to Konrad, Neil, Sam, Lona and Derek in their rep teams.

BIG thanks to Mr Tariau, Tu and Grant for their great coaching - and to all of the awesome supporters who turned up at Avondale racecourse to support our boys.

Our focus now turns to the Ricoh Interschool Knockout competition and the TK Ball Shield competition - both in term 3.

Auckland Rugby Competition, Intermediate Open Grade

What an amazing result from our school of around 30 year 7 and 8 boys. Committment, focus, self belief and strength of character really showed through. As your Principal, boys, I am immensely proud of you.
